Course overview

This course brings you the essential knowledge and skills for competence as a supervisor – whether working with supervisees as individuals, groups, or in peer supervision format.

By understanding the history and ethos of supervision, along with the needs of supervisees, this course equips experienced therapists with practical skills and understanding for the provision of supervision.

This course is ideal for those who are starting to supervise, providing a solid foundation to consider the essence of what supervision is. Or this course can be taken by those who are already supervising, as top-up CPD specifically on the subject of supervision.

The course includes short pre-recorded videos for self-study; downloadable materials and client-friendly sheets; CPD certificate upon successful completion of the course (with multiple-choice questionnaire for each module, to check your understanding of the essentials).

Tutors: Sarah Briggs & Elliot Davis

Sarah and Elliot lead the course. Each is a director of The Grove Practice, where their roles include supervising in private practice alongside supervising students on The Grove’s tutor-led courses. Sarah is a supervisor accredited by BACP and COSRT. Between them, Sarah and Elliot draw on experience of supervision in the context of trainees, qualified and accredited or registered more senior members of our therapy profession.

They have a solid understanding of supervision theory and practice, enhanced by their other teaching on The Grove’s tutor-led supervision diploma course. For this online option, their teaching style is all about resourcing supervisors to support their supervisees with ethical, boundaried practice that makes space for creativity and professional growth.
