Course overview

Designed to quickly build your skills and knowledge, this course brings you 25 years of expert clinical insight, distilled into five foundational modules you can work through at your own pace.

You'll learn to recognise adult ADHD in your clients, map their unique 'ADHD Signature' and use practical frameworks to guide your assessment and ongoing therapeutic work.

Structured frameworks and a phased approach you can implement immediately

The modules are self‑paced, so you can learn when it suits you, revisit as often as you need and integrate the tools into your practice at your own rhythm.

Speaks to women, trauma and comorbidity

This course addresses why ADHD looks different in women, how trauma complicates the picture, and why unrecognised ADHD can sabotage the therapeutic process.

Compassionate, shame‑aware and strengths‑focused

You'll learn not only to recognise difficulties but also to map adaptive traits, work with mindset and build on your client's unique gifts.

Whole‑person, body‑inclusive approach

You'll understand that ADHD doesn't just affect brain and behaviour. It impacts sleep, immunity, sensory processing, hormones, autonomic nervous system regulation and lifestyle.

Who this course is for

Practitioners working in or interfacing with m
ental health including therapists, coaches, psychologists, psychiatrists, GPs, occupational therapists and social workers who encounter adults with ADHD and want to:

  • Recognise possible adult ADHD when it's masked, missed or hiding under other diagnoses
  • Integrate a structured, compassionate, multi-domain framework to understand each client's unique ADHD presentation
  • Learn concrete tools and models you can use immediately in your day-to-day practice
  • Explore how neurodevelopmental differences connect with trauma, physical health, hormones and lifestyle factors

We also welcome individuals and clients interested in understanding their own ADHD more deeply or supporting a loved one with greater insight.

Importantly, this is not a course to learn how to diagnose or prescribe medication for adult ADHD (although these areas are overviewed). It is also not an ADHD coaching training and, in isolation, it does not qualify you as a specialist ADHD practitioner. It is the start of a journey, skilling you up to work more effectively with this client group, complementing your existing training.

Meet your tutors

The training is delivered by two of our directors here at The Grove, Dr James Kustow and Robert Rees.

Dr James is a consultant psychiatrist and integrative psychotherapist with deep expertise in adult ADHD and trauma‑informed care. He is also an experienced and dynamic educator and the author of the bestselling book 'How to Thrive with Adult ADHD'.

His clinical focus is working creatively with the 'ADHD+' picture: how neurodevelopmental differences intersect with trauma, physical health conditions (especially hypermobility), hormonal changes, immune dysregulation and lifestyle factors, and how effective adult ADHD management requires a whole-body perspective.

James teaches the exact tried and tested tools and strategies he uses in his own practice, formed through decades of experience, both personal and professional.

Robert brings his expert insight and skill as an ADHD-informed psychotherapist, coach and embodied practitioner.

Please note

This course includes recordings from a live course with Dr Kustow and Robert Rees so may reference group activity or different days of teaching.
